Study Area
The area extends between highlands of Amman (~ 800 m asl) along Ceil Zarqa River to Sukhneh (~ 550 m asl)
Ceil Zarqa in the past had been a perennial stream and its water originated from GW
Currently there are no base flow & all the springs ceased to discharge due to overpumping of GW
The abstraction of GW is almost twice the estimated perennial yield (87 MCM/Y)
The Quality of GW has steadily deteriorated due to various sources of contamination & Human activities
Various Sources of Contamination existed and still exist along Zarqa Ceil: Waste Water Discharge, Large Working & Industrial Factories, Workshops, Gasoline Stations, Septic Tanks, Municipal Refuse (Landfill), Agricultural Activities
